Payment

Please be aware that once you have submitted your initial payment you are agreeing to uphold the design terms below in their entirety. Shay Bocks accepts credit cards, debit cards, and e-check payments through Paypal. A Paypal account is not required to checkout.

Deposits & Waiting List

An initial, non-refundable 50% deposit is required to hold the client’s place on the schedule. The remaining balance is due before your project is to begin. Once the deposit has been made, the client will be added to the schedule and will be notified of start date, which is only an estimate. This date may change due to other projects, unforeseen circumstances, and/or delayed communication with the client.

Refunds

Due to nature of the graphic design process and the time involved, refunds are not given for any reason.

Quotes

Quotes provided will be honored for 2 weeks from the date of creation. After this time frame, a new quote will be provided upon request.

Cancellations

Cancellations made more than 30 days prior to the posted “start by” date will be charged a fee of 50% of the deposit. Cancellations made within 30 days or less of the posted “start by” date will lose their deposit in full. If you cancel after your start by date you will also lose your entire deposit.

Copyright & Credit

Shay Bocks retains all copyright privileges on all designs unless otherwise specified. These terms of service require that all parts of the blog design remain intact. Clients may not alter, change, sell, share, move or copy any part of the design elements in whole or in part. No derivative works of copyrighted property will be permitted. Once your design is installed, a Shay Bocks logo will be added to the bottom of your blog. The client agrees to keep this credit visible as long as the design is active.
Use of any non-licensed imagery is the sole responsibility of the client. Clients who provide images to me for use in their project assume risk of liability for use of those images. When in doubt, contact the original artist of the image for permission before providing it for me to use in your design project.

Communication

All communication is done via email. No business will be conducted by phone. The design process relies upon consistent email communication and requires clients to be at the computer frequently during the design process. The creative brief should be completed before the specified start date or the project will be recycled back into the queue. If the client fails to respond in a timely manner (within 36 hours), that project will be delayed until a time when regular communication is possible. Should the client not respond within 15 consecutive days, all monies are forfeited to Shay Bocks and the project will be canceled without notification.

Development & Completion

Shay Bocks works hard to complete all projects in a timely manner and will communicate with the client during the entire development of the project. Most projects are completed with 1 to 2 weeks of the start date, but each project is different so it may take less or more time.

Proofing & Revisions

Design proofs are completed according to the specifications provided by the client on the creative brief. The client should have a decent idea of what their vision is and should clearly express that during the discovery process. Shay Bocks will provide up to two revisions for each project unless otherwise specified. Additional revisions are subject to a fee of $40 per hour. Any changes to the design after instillation will also be subject to a fee regardless of the number of revisions used during the design process. Please make sure any changes you want made are done before installation.

Authorization

All clients agree to provide Shay Bocks access to any hosting, domain account, or blog account for the sole purpose of installing and updating the web product as needed. A user name and password is not required for Blogger installation. Instead, the client must grant admin privileges to Shay Bocks prior to installation.

Promotional Use

Shay Bocks reserves the right to use project details for promotional material, portfolio and client testimonials.

These terms and conditions are subject to change without notice.

About

Welcome to the Dumplin Design Studio!

HISTORY

Dumplin Design Studio started out as a small Myspace site called Bocks Creations.  After the birth of my son in April 2008, I found myself up 3 times a night with nothing to occupy my time and keep me awake while feeding my baby.  I decided it was time to take on a project and that became Bocks Creations.  About six months later, I teamed up with Lisa at Carried Away then later branched out on my own with Dumplin Designs.  At the inception, it was just a myspace page providing free and custom graphics.  In August 2009, DumplinDesigns.com was born and later migrated to DumplinDesignStudio.com.

What's with the name?  When our son was a wee little infant, my husband used to call him crazy off the wall names, including his little "Love Dumplin."  I thought this was so cute, that I started using it as well, which kind of ticked off my husband (he likes things to be HIS).  After he deployed, that name just stuck with me and I never stopped using it.  So, the name is in honor of our son, our little love dumplin.

Host A Giveaway

If you are a blog owner, you can now receive 20% off your blog design purchase in exchange for hosting a blog makeover giveaway on your site!

Why?
Product giveaways are a great way to build your traffic, add new subscribers, and generate buzz for your website. And they help me by getting my digital products in front of your audience and generating new customer leads. We'll both get something out of this partnership!

What is the giveaway?
One of your lucky readers will receive a blog design makeover valued at $60.00.  It will include:
  • Custom template - 2 or 3 column
  • Custom header
  • Custom coordinating background
  • Color matching of text, links, post box, and sidebar
  • Coordinating link/add button with grab code
  • Image hosting of all graphics included in your design
  • Installation

How does it work?
  1. Once you've decided to host a giveaway, please contact me at shay@dumplindesignstudio.com.  I'll need to get some basic information about your blog, like the blog name, url, followers count, and traffic statistics.  You can also let me know which hosting slot you'd like (I can only do 2 giveaways per month).
  2. If I determine that your blog is eligible to host the giveaway, I will send you the giveaway kit, which includes images and requirements.  At this time, we'll also discuss what package you would like and I will send you an invoice with 20% off your order.
  3. You'll host the giveaway and once the winner is determined, you can send me their email address so that I can contact them to start the design process.

Requirements:
  • Your blog must have at least 400 followers OR at least 100 unique visitors per day [average over a month].  You will need to supply proof of your traffic statistics.  I may at any time choose to override this requirement if I see fit, but please don't ask.  It will be at my discretion and suggestion only.
  • You must utilize the supplied images in your giveaway post.
  • Giveaways may last up to 2 weeks.
  • You may specify any number of requirements that participants must complete in order to enter the giveaway (e.g. become a Facebook fan, subscribe to your blog, etc), but the first and minimum requirement must be to visit www.dumplindesignstudio.com.

What you'll get from me:
  • 20% off any blog design package
  • Promotion for your giveaway.
  • Support through the entire process

Frequently Asked Questions

Friday, January 1, 2010 |

How do I get started?

First, you should take a peek at my terms of design. Next, fill out the order form to let me know what you're interested in. I will contact you within 1 business day with a final quote, deposit invoice, and a creative brief for you to fill out. This document must be completed and your full payment must be made before your start date. When your start date arrives, I will review your completed creative brief and get to work on your design proofs. Once the proofs are ready, I will contact you regarding revisions and installation or pickup.

How long is the wait?

It varies depending on when you place your order. Your wait time begins once your deposit is received. To find out where you will land on the waiting list, check out my schedule page. This is a good estimate of what your start date will be. It may not be entirely accurate if I have other orders waiting in my inbox that I haven't added to the waiting list yet but I do update this list everyday.

How long does it take once you start?

Each project is different. Some projects need more exploration than others so they obviously take more time. Plan for about 1 to 3 weeks from start to finish as an average.

How and when do I pay?

You will be required to make an initial 50% non-refundable deposit in order to be placed on my schedule. Once it's time for me to begin your design, I'll send over an invoice for your remaining balance. When the invoice is paid in full, I will begin your design. All invoicing & payments are completed through PayPal. You do not have to have a PayPal account to pay your invoice.

Will I be able to change the photos in my header on my own?

Your header is simply a flat image that I have created, so you will not be able to change out photos on your own. When you're ready, contact me for a header update and I'll switch them out for you. I charge a fee of $40 to cover my time for this service.

Can I use the blog header or etsy banner that you created for me on my business materials?

Please do not try this. The web graphics I create do not have the correct resolution to look good in any printed form. If you'd like a graphic that you can print on cards, invoices, labels, etc., let me know and we can create a logo for you which is much larger and perfect for printing.

What hours do you work?

Since I am a wife and mama first, my hours have to remain flexible enough to take care of my family's needs. I am in the office almost every morning and check my email throughout the day. I may not respond immediately, but rest assured that I see your email pretty much immediately after it is received. I do not work on weekends.
